About Have Your Say

Maribyrnong City Council is working with the community to formulate a series of public statements that will be used across the city to promote equal opportunities for women  and prevent violence against women.

Council’s aim through the development and promotion of the statements, is to publically declare that the community and Council say yes to respect and equality and no to violence against women.

The statements will serve as a public show of support to visitors and members of our community alike the importance of respect and equality.

On 4 May 2011, Maribyrnong City Council held a community engagement event for representatives from five key settings – media and the arts; workplaces; education and training; sports and recreation; and local government, health and community services.

These five settings have been identified by the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (Vic Health) as having the ability to be most effective in preventing violence against women.

Council also needs to hear from the broader community and we hope that you find this blog an accessible format for you to Have Your Say on this important issue.

Please join us by sharing your ideas and opinions and joining in this important conversation to help us formulate these statements and suggest where they can be displayed.
